In Loving Memory of
Skip Pitts

Celebration of Life for Ralph Edward “Skip” Pitts

Expert Roof Maintenance In DenverRalph Edward “Skip” Pitts was a man defined by deep faith, a generous heart, and unwavering devotion—to his family, his friends, and to those he worked beside. He was received into the arms of God on Sunday, September 28, 2025, at the age of 67, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Marshall, Texas, in 1957, Skip was the youngest child of James Dudley and Ruth Naomi Pitts. From an early age, he embodied curiosity, kindness, and an adventurous spirit. He spent his youth exploring East Texas, building forts, chasing new ideas, and—on occasion—getting into a little harmless mischief. His love for baseball began there and carried him through Marshall High School to a scholarship at Texas A&M, where he proudly represented the Aggies on the diamond. Later, he passed along that same love for the game by coaching at Evergreen High School.

After earning a degree in mechanical engineering, Skip began his professional career with a Texas-based firm and later spent time in Los Angeles with Warner Brothers. Eventually, he made Colorado his home, where he spent more than 30 years as a respected leader in the construction and roofing industries. His intellect, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others earned him the admiration of everyone he worked with.

When Roof Evolution LLC was first founded, Skip was there from the very beginning. Introduced to us by Larry Mann, he became not only a mentor but the cornerstone of our success. We were new to the commercial roofing world—blind, really—and Skip took us under his wing. He taught us everything we know about the commercial side of the business, with patience, humility, and a genuine desire to see us succeed.

Skip believed in us long before we fully believed in ourselves. During the uncertainty of 2020, when the world shut down and most stayed home, Skip was the one who kept showing up. No matter how many times we told him he could stay home, he would insist on coming into the office. His dedication never wavered. He was always there to answer every question, no matter how small, and he never once made us feel like we didn’t know what we were doing. His belief in our team became a foundation that helped build the company we are today.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Skip’s greatest pride and joy was his family. As a loving father to his daughters, Ali and Katie, he filled their lives with humor, wisdom, and unforgettable memories. Ali remembers road trips that always began with ZZ Top’s “La Grange,” while Katie fondly recalls her dad’s surprise “notes from the principal’s office,” which magically turned into afternoons at the ballpark. He shared his passion for science, weather, and the stars with his granddaughter, Lydia, spending countless hours exploring the wonders of the world together.

Skip’s marriage to his beloved wife, Sara, was a true partnership filled with adventure, laughter, and faith. Whether parasailing, zip-lining, or simply enjoying the peace of the Colorado mountains, they embraced life together with open hearts. One of Skip’s favorite songs was Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day”—a fitting reflection of how he made everyone around him feel.

Faith was the constant thread in Skip’s life. Whether reading from the Bible he kept in his truck or beginning each morning with prayer, his actions were always guided by his spiritual foundation. He found peace in nature—fly fishing, hunting, and volunteering with Project Healing Waters, where he helped veterans find healing through the outdoors.

Skip was also the kind of neighbor and friend everyone hopes to have—always ready to lend a hand, fix a problem, or share a laugh. As Sara’s sister once said, “Everyone needs a Skip Pitts in their life.”

Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his humility, and the quiet strength that made such a lasting impact. His legacy lives on—in his family, in his friends, and in the countless people he inspired, including all of us at Roof Evolution.

We will miss him deeply, but we will carry forward the lessons he taught us: to work hard, to care for others, to believe in people, and to never stop learning.

Skip’s final gift to all of us is the memory of his light, his laughter, and his unwavering faith. We will honor that by continuing to build—on the roofs he helped us understand, and on the foundation of goodness he left behind.

Thank you, Skip, for everything. You’ll always be part of the Roof Evolution family.
